Mexico’s BPM Festival Announces Official 2016 Dates

As BPM Festival prepares to enter its ninth year, the marathon 10-day beach party has announced its official 2016 dates, making its epic return to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, from January 8-17.

BPM 2015 boasted over 375 artists and 80 parties over 10 days on the Mayan Riviera, featuring performances by many of the world’s most talented house and techno DJs, including DJ Sneak, Carl Craig, Green Velvet, Luciano, Dixon, Art Department, Seth Troxler, Solomun, Henrik Schwarz and Wolf & Lamb.

While the 2016 lineup has yet to be revealed (last year’s lineup was insane) BPM has unveiled its new logo, the ‘Official BPM Crest,’ which depicts one of Mexico’s national animals, the black jaguar, in traditional mask form.

Over 60,000 attendees from over 60 countries came to party last year, and we were on hand to capture the top tracks and highlights, which you can check out here.

A limited release of ‘Super Early Bird’ 10-Day passes go on sale Friday, July 17 at TheBPMFestival.com.

Planet Mu is readying a three-disc compilation to celebrate its 20th anniversary.

Founded by Mike Paradinas, AKA µ-Ziq, Planet Mu has traversed all kinds of genres—IDM, breakcore, dubstep, grime, footwork—throughout its two decades in operation. Planet Mu 20th Anniversary contains 50 tracks of old music and unreleased material spread across three CDs housed in a DVD-style boxset. In addition to the deluxe boxset, there will be a scaled-down double-CD edition. There will also be a digital version that comes with a pdf copy of the book.

According to the label CDs 1 and 2 focus on "colourful, broad and adventurous" music from the current decade—artists like Kuedo,Machinedrum, FaltyDL, Ital, Boxcutter, RP Boo and Jlin. The third CD is given over to the "old guard," with names like Neil Landstrumm, Speedy J and Shitmat contributing.

MARTIN GARRIX RELEASES SECOND COLLABORATIVE EFFORT WITH MATISSE & SADKO

While the animosity towards Martin Garrix remains prevalent in these treasured realms of the internet, there’s no denying that the kid is a marvelous producer at the budding age of 19. Paired with the skilled duo Matisse & Sadko, who also collaborated on the massive progressive anthem “Dragon,” this second collaborative effort, “Break Through The Silence,” features a strong vocal line unlike the aforementioned tune. Amplified by subtle FX and gorgeously catchy melodies – as we have come to expect from young Garrix – this release is yet another ace in his star-studded discography.

We lament the lack of credit for the vocalist, however, as the top line truly makes the song. That being said, you can pick up the track on Beatport here and count on some portion of the profits to land in said singer’s lap. Check out the full stream below, and excuse Spinnin’ Records‘ hilarious spelling error, the uploader might have had one too many to drink.

Pacha Ibiza recently kicked off its summer season by introducing David Guetta’s ‘F**k Me I’m Famous’ Residency and opening party. The event featured live horses being brought out on stage where dancers wore Native American headdresses.

In the video footage below, you will see the horse stand in the middle of the loud club while David Guetta plays his CDJs. Soon after the video went public, one commenter said “Horses are known for their love of loud music, flashing lights, crowds, and Coldplay, says no person ever.” Deadmau5 decided to chime in saying “Fuck @davidguetta and fuck @Pacha.” “I’m sure the horse really appreciated it. stupid fucks… for real… horses belong on a farm, not in a shitty overpriced nightclub to be subjected to a shitty overpaid DJ.”

Groove Armada are known for dance anthems and live performances across the globe and their own festival, LoveBox, is now legendary in its own right. With London’s festivals pulling out the stops this year, LoveBox (17th/18th July) will be taking it to the next level with 8 stages of massive headliners, hip-hop and dance bangers and, of course, a set from the guvnors, Groove Armada themselves!

LoveBox has a connoisseur’s line up this year. What do I mean by that? Well, there's heritage hip hop from Snoop and Cypress Hill (jointly responsible for half the soundtrack to the legalise movement, so there’s probably gonna be some sniffer dogs there thinking; ‘I’m too old for this sh*t’). For the new schoolers, Action Bronson will be dishing out tunes from his latest album, Mr.Wonderful.
